Auto-resize guest display does not seem to work

Hi there,
I have both a Win 8.1 and a Win 10 VM, where the guest display does not resize. What I've used and done:
- Tried both 5.0.16 and 5.0.18
- Reinstalled/updated Guest Additions
- Auto-resize guest display is enabled
- Maximum guest screen size is automatic
It has been working with 5.0.16, but lately does not seem to work anymore. Logfiles of both VM's are attached.
Regards,
Martien

Hi,
I did also try out Fedora 23 in a VM. Auto-resize does work in the VM.

Found another thing:
My VM does not auto-resize, but the resized resolution is available when changing the resolution in Windows. Changing the resolution over there after resizing the window does work? What am I doing wrong?

I'm getting that same effect using Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit host and Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit guest.
(it seems to widen slightly during the guest startup but snaps back to the 640X480 display)
( note added 5/7/2016 - Host machine cpu: AMD 955 Phenom II 4 core, 16 GiB memory )
