VM won't start after upgrade to 5.0.18

Post by alyandon »

I have an existing Windows 7 VM that was working under 5.0.16 on an Ubuntu 14.04 LTS host. After upgrading to 5.0.18 this morning, it generates a guru mediation error "Guru Meditation -306 (VERR_MORE_DATA)" a few seconds after it begins the boot process. I've tried rebooting/reinstalling/etc and the only thing that works is manually downgrading the package to 5.0.16.

I've attached the logs - anyone have any ideas on this or should I just pin the virtualbox package and forego upgrading for the time being?

Indeed - I have my guest configured to use the LSI controller. I'm just going to wait around for the maintenance release. Thanks for the info!
