Starcraft lags out

Post by McCray »

If there is a better forum for this topic, feel free to point me.
After some work, I got VBox working great. I don't remember all the hoops I had to jump through. Only problem is Starcraft lags really badly once a game is actually started, to the point where it's unplayable. The application itself runs fine, once I quit and go back to the game menu it's fine, it's just having a bunch of units on the map.
I tried switching from NAT to Host Interface with no change...any suggestions? I am about to reinstall Windows!
(XP SP2 under Ubuntu 8.04)
2.4 GHz, 500 Mb RAM, waaay more than enough to run SC native

Have a look at this: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... ion&iId=72
I believe that your problem is the CPU. As soon as things start to get crowded with units, the CPU speed VB provides is not enough to run SC smooth enough. Using Wine should solve your problem.
