Upgrade to VBox and Guest Add. 5.0.17 broke USB in guests

I had VBox and guest additions 5.0.16 on an Ubuntu 15.10 host with Win10, Centos 7, and openSUSE Tumbleweed guests. Win10 and Centos have been up a for a while and have been working perfectly but opensuse tumbleweed was new and I was having difficulty getting 3d acceleration working (Tumbleweed). I upgraded to 5.0.17 on advise from someone else to correct this (which was successful by the way in supporting 3d acceleration in the opensuse tumbleweed guest) and now I get the following message when trying to launch any of these guests with USB 2.0 support:

Code: Select all

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine win10pro64. (or centos or opensuse)

Implementation of the USB 2.0 controller not found!

Because the USB 2.0 controller state is part of the saved VM state, the VM cannot be started. To fix this problem, either install the 'Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack' or disable USB 2.0 support in the VM settings.

Note! This error could also mean that an incompatible version of the 'Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack' is installed (VERR_NOT_FOUND).

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: ConsoleWrap
Interface: IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed}
I did of course install guest additions 5.0.17 in all of these guests to no avail. Though not critical for the linux guests the only reason I need windoze is for a couple of proprietary USB devices that are not worth having a separate win machine but still important. Any ideas?

Post a VM log file. With the VM fully shut down, right click it in GUI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (ONLY) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

The Guest Additions are not relevant to USB. You can forget about that avenue.

Note that support for test builds will be limited - they are expected to break. Bug reports are accepted for test builds, and that's what you should do if this conversation confirms the bug.

Will do. Installing current extension pack fixed USB support in existing guests but broke default Nat network. Just used existing bridge successfully.

I have attached the log file. As I mentioned installing the latest extension pack fixed the USB issue but did seem to disable the default NATed network. I did not do much troubleshooting as it was simpler to just use an existing bridged interface on my machine.

I have exactly similiar problem, after switching from v5.0.16 to 5.0.18

If I setup addons in linux guest, usb mouse seems being available, but no cursor is displayed.

if I remove the kernel modules in the guest, the mouse works.
SORRY that is a win host and a linux guest, will post in right place...
