What is the normal 2D display and input latency?
I am getting something close to 60% 2D performance loss in windows xp, and no i don't mean 3D.
1. Does the guest additions support directx and direct draw acceleration?
2. Is it possible to get get lower mouse input latency?
3. Is it possible lower the display latency in windows guests?
4. Is high gui and window manager lag normal for all operating systems?
5. If so is it possible to expose the needed hardware components to the vm directly?
What is the normal display and input latency?

Now your post that you created only a few days ago is no longer ignored. FWIW, sometimes, often it takes a few days for a response.
OSX, Linux and Windows Hosts & Guests
There are three groups of people. Those that can count and those that can't.

IMHO, this question asked to be ignored. If you want help from volunteers, don't pose your questions like accusations, plus insult your potential advisors by anticipating poor understanding and bad answers, e.g. "and no I don't mean 3D".
Also the question is rather technical for a user forum.

Ok could you tell me why?mpack wrote:IMHO, this question asked to be ignored.
When did i do that exactly?mpack wrote:If you want help from volunteers, don't pose your questions like accusations,
That was never my intention, misunderstanding happen alot online and more if i am not specifying things like that as i treat other how i like to be treated in this case.mpack wrote:plus insult your potential advisors by anticipating poor understanding and bad answers, e.g. "and no I don't mean 3D".

Re: What is the normal display and input latency?
1. See section 4 in the manual, especially 4.5
2 & 3. I have never seen any special commands for these. I suspect the developers are driving this horse as hard as they can.
4. In virtualized OS's, yes, always.
5. Except through the 2D and 3D accelerations in the Guest Additions, no, unless you're running a Linux host, at which there is experimental PCI-passthrough. Ask on the Linux Hosts forum about that. I've heard it is not worth the trouble.

FWIW, this thread is reminding me of the TV show Cagney & Latency.

Saw ads for that show growing up, never watched it though.
I did like Hardcastle & McCormick, when I got a chance to see it.
Oh, and A-Team... Pity da fool that never saw A-Team.
