Wrong Kernel,

I get this message when I start
This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected in i686 CPU. Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU.

There is no option for me to select 64 bit on any drop down, and everything I am reading on line says to change it to 64bit in the download, but there is no option for that.

I don't really have that in depth knowledge into computer programming. So basic advice would be great.

Some Linux guests give you that error message if you try to install a 64bit OS into a 32bit VM. You didn't tell us what guest OS you tried to install, but lets say it was Ubuntu 64bit". That means that you should have chosen the "Ubuntu (64bit)" OS version template, not the "Ubuntu" or "Ubuntu (32bit)" one.
