Add 1394 Firewire cared to guest

I'm trying to install a Firewire card in my Virtual Box XP machine that is already installed on my Windows 10 host. I get to the point in Add New Hardware where it looks for a driver, but it needs to go out on the web to find it and XP won't do it.
The card is a Star Tech PCI1394MP and it says XP will automatically install drivers, but no luck on that.

Any ideas out there?

Thank you,
Jim Dodds

The vm cannot see the hardware of your host. It only sees its own emulated devices. There is no emulated firewire device in the vm, so you are out of luck.

I appreciate your reply, but to clarify, are you saying that there's no way to add
an emulation to the VM?

Thanks,
Jim

Not unless you think that you can write one yourself.

You can always use USB adapters, and with the new USB-3 interface, it should word accordingly in guests.

Thanks, but that just doesn't work with a Firewire scanner.

I was referring to a USB to Firewire adapter.

I understand that USB to Firewire doesn't work well because of different ways of handling data.

What's hard to understand in:
The vm cannot see the hardware of your host. It only sees its own emulated devices. There is no emulated firewire device in the vm, so you are out of luck.
