bridged network with win 10 guest

Post by TonyStark »

Hi,
i have virtual box 5.0.16 on win 10 64bit host and guest with win 7 64bit;
I would like to set up a bridged network card but this only works if I first detachment on cable do not see the other addresses :(
The card name in the virtualbox settings has a number in parentheses (2), and I think that's the problem.
Someone could give me a hand?
Thank you

I would think that the first thing to do is tidy up your network setup in Windows 10. How many physical NICs do you have? How many appear in network and sharing center display? What are they called?

Is your host Windows 10 on a local network? Does the network have a DHCP server?

Hi,
I have 3 real network cards: ethernet, bluetooth and wireless;
In win 10 (control panel of the card) the ethernet is called: Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I219-V;
the bluetooth card: Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network);
the wireless card: Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260;
and also VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter;
All in win 10 control panel-->network and internet-->network connection.
My host is not on a local network and there is no DHCP
I have a shared folder to the host in guest with win 7.

Before I had windows 8 as a host on another PC and everything worked.

Hi,
Today I was confronted with a colleague who uses vm ware of windows 10 and windows 7 as a guest, as well as me, and he is able to work well with the bridge. :cry:

If your host is not on a local network, you cannot use bridged mode. Bridged mode allows the vm to share the host's NIC and operate as if it was also on the local network. It cannot work if the host is directly connected to the Internet.

If you want to share files between the host and the guest, host only is the settings you want. Leave one NIC set to NAT (so that you have Internet connection through the host machine)) and enable a second NIC in the vm set to host only. You configure that from the settings of the vm while the guest OS is shutdown.
