How to run SQL express on a linux server

Hi,
I have a progam written by a 3rd party which uses SQL Server Express with Advanced Services as the back end database. The developer will write the web based end using .net
I want to load this onto a linux server as the linux server I have found does everything else I want very well.
Can I load virtualbox onto my linux server, and then load up a suitable windows operating system to run the sql.
I know very little about doing this, so if you say it's possible I will pas it onto the server developer.
