I am running Windows Server 2012 64 bit as host OS.
I have two VM guests running windows server 2012 OS 64 bit.
I have created host only network on both VMs. Both using same host only adapter. 192.168.56.1 host adapter IP address
From both the VMs I can reach to 192.168.56.1 using both DHCP and static IP addresses.
But the VMs are not able to ping each other.
For debugging the issue, I created an XP VM on the same host with host only adapter. Both windows server 2012 VMs can reach to XP VM without any problem.
But communication between WIndows Server 2012 VMs is not working.
Can anyone please share some ideas how to debug this problem.
Thank you.

Re: Network issue between windows 2012 server VMs
Windows firewall defaults to not respond to Ping, or ICMP echo request, I think Windows calls it. Did you clear that firewall rule?
If the above does not change anything, what do you mean by "reach"? Is that ping or some other service like shared folders? Did you accept the host-only network in each guest as a known network and not Public or Unknown?

Scottgus1, thanks for your reply. I am running 5.0.14 version of Virtualbox.
Windows firewall was the issue. Turned it off and can ping to the other VM.
Apologies for not including the relevant information. Going forward I'll make sure all the right information is included while creating the post.

Glad it was just firewall in the way. Firewall can stay on, btw, just activate the ICMP echo request rule for the type of network - public, private, or domain - you are using in the guest.
