I am running Vbox 5.0.14 r105127 on a Windows 7 64bit host.
I am running an Ubuntu 14.03 guest Occasionally the guest will not shut down.
After logging off the guest and clicking the X close, it just sits there saying closing and
counting time. It will not close completely.
My question is what should I be looking at to find the reason it won't close immediately?
Thanks,
Ray

Re: Guest Won't Shut Down?
You should be looking for a deadlocked process running inside the guest OS.
Moved to "Linux Guests" since this is not a "Using VirtualBox" question.

Re: Guest Won't Shut Down?
Problem is it hangs randomly and when it does, I have to reboot the host.
How can I look for a deadlocked process before I know if it is going to hang?
Actually, what the heck is a deadlocked process and how can I recognize one?

Re: Guest Won't Shut Down?
Sorry, those are support questions for the guest OS. I'm not a Linux user myself.
If you want to continue this discussion then post a VM log file, and I can look for anything which might make a guest unstable. With the VM fully shut down, right click it in GUI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (ONLY) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.
