Toshiba recovery CD for WindowssXP

Post by watjilpa1 »

I have a Toshiba 110 series Laptop runing on Linux Hardy. Installed Virtualbox and tried to install WindowsXp via the recovery Cd that came with the laptop when I first bought it. Followed all the steps and everything goes well: I tell the machine to use a 10gb new partition but after the formatting process is done and I am instructed to retrieve the cd, the system halts and nothing else happens. Then a Bhudda appears warning me of an error and that I should send the log (Windowsxp-2008-07-02-00-22-16.log) to Virtualbox.org which I do not know how to do so I would be grateful if someone (i) gave me a hint as to may be happening or (ii) could advise me as to how to reach Virtualbox.org. This forum is as far as I have gotten.

Thank you.

Using OEM recovery discs is not recommended. This is because most OEM laptops and computers have a hidden partition where the install files are on, or sometimes the whole install image. Borrow a normal install disc from a friend/family member/whoever and try it with that. If you can't borrow one, you could try downloading one from a p2p network, but you have to be carefull with these networks.
