Hey guys, i was encrypting my virtual disk, ( i was using AES-XTS256-PLAIN64), but the encryption process stopped all of the sudden, now when i try to start my xp guest it doesn't boot:
FATAL: No bootable medium found! System halted.
How do I recover my virtual disk? I have valuable files that I'm sure are still here.

Use the backup you took before encrypting the disk with the valuable files in it.
Or try attaching the disk to another guest and see what you might be able to read.

I didn't create any backup, the files are called mce2005-flat.vmdk and mce2005.vmdk, are there any ways to recover this virtual disk?
i thing virtualbox developers must know something about this encryption thing that they put there.

Why would it have anything to do with VBox developers? Were you using a VirtualBox application to encrypt your virtual disk? I doubt that very much, especially as you are using .vmdk, which is a VMWare file format. VirtualBox just uses the file as a virtual hard disk for the vm. The OS on the host looks after encryption.
If mce2005-flat.vmdk is the unencrypted file, I would change the name of mce2005.vmdk to something else and rename mce2005-flat.vmdk to mce2005.vmdk . That should take you back to where you were before you started messing about with encryption (if you have not moved the file).
If that works, make a copy of the .vmdk (and store it somewhere safe) before you start messing around again.

"AES-XTS256-PLAIN64" is mentioned in the help file section 9.31.2 as one of the available methods for encryption in Virtualbox, so I would suspect Virtualbox was the application OP used. Help also says encryption doesn't depend on the the image type, so vmdk seems to be compatible. Vmdk & flat, I don't know.
Diego, see the help file section 9.31.4 for decrypting disks. Maybe that will restore, if attaching to another guest doesn't get access to your files. Do make a copy of the files first.
Running without a backup is not wise, as you have no doubt learned.
