Window 7 Guest wiith unchangable disk

Hi,

I have running VirtualBox under Ubuntu 12.04 and I have created a vm with a complete Win7 installation with entered the windows product key.
When I changed the disk to unchangeable and booted again, Windows detected a hardware change and required the key again.

How can I avoid this behavior ?

Best Regards

I'm not sure what this question has to do with "Linux Hosts". Moving you to "Windows Guests".

What is an "unchangeable disk"? Are you talking about an immutable disk? If yes then I don't see any way for that to cause an activation problem. It must be something else you are doing or not doing.

I assume you made it immutable after activation, right?

Yes of course I made the disk immutable after activation.
What changes in the hardware configuration when a VirtualBox disk is made immutable ?

None, that is precisely my point. Making a disk immutable is just a disk management option, similar to taking a snapshot.
