Hi,
I have a working copy of Windows 7 running on vbox on my Ubuntu laptop. I have copied the vdi file and the vbox files to an external USB hard disk.
Now I would like to replace the vdi file and the vbox file on the laptop with the one on the USB external hard disk, this I will do by just copying from the external drive and paste to the laptop (location will be same as before when it was copied from the laptop).
I would like to know if the UUID of the disk will get changed if I copy the vdi file and vbox file on the external USB drive to the laptop, I dont want this to occur as I would have to re-activate Windows 7 (which will not be possible).
Also when copying vbox detects that a copy already exists at the original location, so does this mean I have to paste at the original location only ? what do I do with the file already there ?
thanks
a
Question regarding UUID of vdi

Re: Question regarding UUID of vdi
The UUID is only changed when you clone the VM (or its individual components) using a VirtualBox tool. Obviously there is no UUID change if you just copy files using the host OS.
