virtualbox installers rejected by Microsoft like Malwares

Some of the Windows installers for VirtualBox have certificate issues, causing installation not possible because executable is rejected by Microsoft SmartScreen on Windows 10 like they were malwares.

On the installers I tested so far, I found theses 2 ones detected by SmartScreen. They are unusable:
- VirtualBox-4.3.36-105129-Win.exe
- VirtualBox-5.0.14-105127-Win.exe

I would classify this issue as Major, as it concerns the version that is promoted on the home page and that new users are downloading the most.

Please note that this issues does not concerns VirtualBox itself but its installer.

That is true... but not that many VirtualBox users run Windows 10 in the first place.

At any rate, this non-issue is being worked on.

Hi !

Reg:.

That´s not all, I have just tested it with Windows Server 2008 R2 ( Up to date MS patchlevel ) and get the same issue: Certificate error
The Extension pack works.

I would define it also as A or major bug as you can´t install the product anymore.

I read, that you are working on it. So I´ll try it again in a few days.
