Hi,
I'm using Virtualbox version 5 on a Ubuntu 14.04LTS server, running a winodws guest OS.
All's fine with the windows guest and I can access the machine using remote desktop.
What I can (no longer) do, is to start the VM in the background when logging in to the host via ssh, then logout without killing the VM.
I normally use the 'VBoxHeadless -s vm vrde=config &' or the 'VBoxManage startvm vm --ypte headless &' command. Logging out of ssh kills the process.
I've tried various ways using nohup - still no luck - each time I logout, the VM is killed.
This used to be no problem with virtualbox 4.
OK, found something which may help determining the cause:
I have 3D enabled in the guest and I connect to the host with X forwarding from my workstation. As it seems, this will cause some process to continue to be assigned to the ssh process even if the startup command was properly detached. In order to fully disconnect from the host, I have to press CTRL-C, which will immediately kill the startup.
