I have installed CentOS 7 on VBox 5, Win 7 Host. There were some glitches which I show at the end in case they are relevant. However my problem is, I cannot get CentOS to see the network. Internet is OK, but its not seeing the individual Windows shares on the LAN. I have tried all the VBox network modes (NAT, NATnetwork ...) Some give me no kind of net access, some (NAT and Bridged adapter) give me internet, but on trying to access the LAN I first get "opening windows network", followed by "Failed to retrieve share list from server". What "server" is being looked for? Or, more generally, how do I get network access?

During install
Select server with Gui - no other (RHS) selections
1 enter license, 2 to accept, c, c
su
dhclient [no ip otherwise]
yum install gcc [get error otherwise]
very very slow
reboot afte 30 mins

[error suggesting following run - which I did]

[run vbox additions again - no error]
Devices/share clipboard - mouse all OK [So additions are in place]
add shared folder - selected OK but not in "Places"
connect network adaptor
select "NAT Network"and "cable connected"
in centos trhcorner connect pci Ethernet - tries to connect - fails
at root dhclient stalls but completes eventually
connect in "bridged adapter" mode
in centos trhcorner connect pci Ethernet - tries to connect - succeeds
Internet ok, Browse network"Failed to retrieve share list from server"
Tried "NAT network" no internet, "PCI internet" shows "off", "connect" fails.
switch to "NAT", connect works, internet works, no network "failed to retrieve"
"Host only" connect fails, no internet, "opening windows network" "failed to retrieve"
"Internal network" - connect rejected "opening windows network" "failed to retrieve"
