VirtualBox on Dell XPS 13 9350

Post by Barry-XPS13 »

Hi all,

This is something I thought I must post so other users will find this information useful.
I purchased the Dell XPS 13 9350 with i7 CPU and 16GB RAM so I could run a virtual machine on it.
Once I updated the BIOS to the latest version and verified that both VT related options are enabled, I installed VirtualBox and I found that I am missing all 64Bit options.
I found in some online posts that repairing the VirtualBox installation might help so once I repaired it I saw all 64Bit options and created a new VM.
Once I started it I got an error message saying that VT is no enabled for all CPU...

I downloaded VMware Workstation and created a new VM and got a similar error.
I uninstalled VirtualBox, went back to the BIOS and disabled the first VT option and left the second one enabled.
I wanted to capture the error I got in VirtualBox so I reinstalled it and created a new VM but got a different error probably because the first option in the BIOS is disabled.
I wend back to the BIOS and enabled the first option and then all of a sudden all 64Bit options where available.
I created a new VM and amazingly its working.

I don't understand what happened here but if it will help then...
