USB Controller Driver error

Post by GhostReaper »

Hi Guys

I am using VirtualBox 5.0.14r105127, I have created a windows 7 VM and I am trying to connect my external hard drive to the VM so that I may install other software.

I did download the VirtualBox Extension Pack for USB2.0 and USB3.0, but it still does not want to pick my external disk. I have also tried to connect to the host machine as it does not allow me to simply just copy content from the host machine and paste to the VM like VMWare Workstation does. I cannot connect to the host machine at all, it keeps asking for a username and password, of which there isn't a password, and it does not connect.

In device manager

It gives an error for both Base System Device and Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller. I have tried to update them but that fails as well.

Can anyone please tell me how to fix the USB problem or maybe how can I connect to a folder on the host machine so that I can get the software I need to install on the VM.

Windows 7 has no native support for USB3 (xHCI). You'll need to Google for the Intel xHCI drivers.
