Time to Upgrade VirtualBox?

Hello,
I have a new primary desktop PC on the way which will be running Windows 10 Home as the host OS. I currently am running a Windows XP guest on Windows 8.1 host using VB version 4.2.16 with associated Guest Additions. My question is, is it time to upgrade to the current release of VB as part of the setup on my new primary desktop or should I stick with the version I have been using for some time? I require programs that run on the XP guest daily, so it is essential that the XP guest continues to run well. Thank you!

Windows 10 is not supported as a host in any version older than 5.0
When I upgraded my Lenovo Windows 7 laptop with XP and 7 guests to 10, I used version 5.0.10, and it has worked fine so far.

Thank you for the response. As I prepare for the move to a new primary PC with the current version of VB, I'm planning on using VB's export/import appliance functions to "move" my current XP guest to the new PC running Windows 10. I see the export function will produce an OVA file that looks to be about half the size in GB of current XP guest. Is this the best way to move the guest to both a new PC and current version of VB? Thank you!

Negatory. For Virtualbox-to-Virtualbox, even from old version to new, see Moving a VM This will get your guests moved with the least trouble. Re-interpreting this tutorial as "Backing Up a VM" is also a good way to do backups.

Thank you again for the response. I make a complete copy of the VB folder which contains my XP guest weekly, so I will use the "Add" function in VB once it's installed on the new Windows 10 PC. Should I copy my most recent "backup" to the appropriate location on the new host PC C: drive before attempting the "Add" function instead of pointing it to the external hard drive where I store my weekly backup copies? Thanks again for the help.

Yes, copy the guest to the host's internal drive first, then Add it.
