How to keep guest window open after shutdown?

I'm running Linux Mint as a guest under Windows 8.1.

After shutting down the guest, I get some linux errors that I would like to see, but the window closes too fast and I don't have time to see what it says.

I'd appreciate if someone can tell me how to keep the window open after guest shuts down?

I have used Video Capture [Settings, Display] in similar situations.
For playback. browsers work, but VLC media player product is vastly better.

Thanks, that is a good option, but I was more hoping that there would be a setting somewhere, that doesn't close down the window after VM shutdown.
