Cannot use NAT network on Windows 10

Post by AdrianR »

I'm trying to use a Ubuntu VM on two machines running Windows 10. The VM was copied from a Windows 8 machine where it works just fine. But on Windows 10, NAT networking doesn't work at all, the VM cannot connect to anything. I can use bridged adapter, but that doesn't allow me to use a VPN connected to the host Windows system, so I'm stuck. This is what ifconfig shows me, which looks the same as the guest on Windows 8, which works ok:

Code: Select all

eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 08:00:27:8b:2f:40
          inet addr:10.0.2.15  Bcast:10.0.2.255  Mask:255.255.255.0
          inet6 addr: fe80::a00:27ff:fe8b:2f40/64 Scope:Link
          UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:6 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:82 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:1448 (1.4 KB)  TX bytes:11328 (11.3 KB)

lo        Link encap:Local Loopback
          inet addr:127.0.0.1  Mask:255.0.0.0
          inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
          UP LOOPBACK RUNNING  MTU:65536  Metric:1
          RX packets:213 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:213 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
          RX bytes:32040 (32.0 KB)  TX bytes:32040 (32.0 KB)
I'm not sure what else is useful. Any help appreciated.

Re: Cannot use NAT/Bridged/Host Only network on Win10 Host

Post by anandp »

I have installed 2 Guest VMs - Ubuntu 15.04 on Win10 Host. I am using a wireless tata photon connection on my Win10 Host.
I want to do a network setup like that - Whenever I am connecting my tata photon device, my win10 will connect to internet at a same time my Guest VMs - Ubuntu 15.04 also need to access my internet.

I have tried Bridged Network / Host-Only Network but still not able to access the same.
Appreciate your prompt help.

@anandp: Please create your own topic unless your issue as the same as the OP. The OP said that bridged is working, and he didn't mention host only: which in any case is useless for accessing a physical network. That is why it is called host only.
