VirtualBox v 5.06. Windows 7 Pro.
I create a folder, then go through the Windows 7 steps to share it.
After all the steps, I get message "Your folder can't be shared."
I don't understand this as I have shared folders on many other VB systems.
What am I missing?
Thanks.

Lots more information.
Minimal information needed to be able to help, please, especially the guest log, zipped & attached with the Upload Attachment tab below your next post.

Re: Your folder can't be shared - Windows 7
Before I zip and attach all these logs (the machine is at another site), can someone tell me please.
Is there anything in VirtualBox, any version, that would prevent me from sharing a simple desktop folder? Even when VB is not running?
And give the message on the host "Your folder can't be shared"
The host computer is Windows 7 Professional. The Guest is eComstation v 2
By the way, the virtual works just fine - I can start my eCS guest and it all works well.
But I can't share a folder from the host which I want to connect with SAMBA in the guest.

I've been reading the forums for years and have never run across anything that Virtualbox does which might interfere with sharing a host folder.
Did you try a search?

Is the message "Your folder can't be shared" a VirtualBox message or a Windows message? Because I have the feeling that it is the latter, in which case you should be checking your Windows network and sharing options.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

The message is a Windows message. But my customers (and their IT guys) are questioning VirtualBox as being responsible.
I don't believe it, but I can't prove it.
I just wondered if anyone here has had or has heard of a similar situation.

Of course you can prove it. By searching for it. You'll notice that a lot of people are having the exact same issue. None on VirtualBox, only on actual, physical systems. And the solution should be the same. Depending on the version of Windows that your customers are running on their VM.jjurbaneCS wrote:I don't believe it, but I can't prove it.
