Hello
I'm trying to get a USB device working on my Windows 7 machine. The device works only under 98 and XP (uses FTDI drivers).
On Windows 7 I'm not able to use this device, can't install the drivers.
So I setup a VB with Windows XP, that worked for a few month... Until I changed the USB port a few times... (device still works well on a old 98 host)
I'm using 2 different devices using FTDI drivers - both stopped working correctly. Well okay, it's Windows - finally reinstalled the Windows 7 System.
Now I could use one of the devices (that one which works well under Windows 7...) again, but the other one which is limited to XP isn't working.
Also created a new VB with XP, the same problem.
Is it correct that I can use a USB device (which doesn't work under Windows 7) in a Windows XP VB on a Windows 7 host?
Btw. some other ideas? =)
Thanks!

Re: USB device for Win98/XP not working with XP VB on Window
That rather depends on the device. There are no guarantees. However, in principle a USB2 device which the host doesn't understand at the application level can be used in an XP VM.
