Upgrading firmware Philips PBDV1640P - VBOX CDROM (SOLVED)

Post by lappen »

I need to upgrade my DVD Firmware, passthrough is enabled and Philips PBDV1640P is mounted as a host drive.

I haven't tried burning anything but imgburn finds a DVDRW and I can use it to read.

The Philips Upgrade tool lists the device as VBOX CD-ROM 1.0 and so does device manager. Is it safe to upgrade or do I need to enable, change anything else?.

I am using XP as a guest.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Got some information from klaus-vb in/at freenode/#vbox

VirtualBox only allows whitelisted commands, and a firmware upgrade is not for security reasons on that list. This is not mentioned in the manual but it should and will be.

So meaning it's safe to try it but it won't work as VirtualBox won't allow it.
