Hi Forum
I have just upgraded to version 5.0.14 r105127 and have lost access to the virtual host adapter and receive the error message below. I am running VirtualBox on a Windows 7 PC.
Could not start the machine Ubuntu_15.04_Server_02 Clone because the following physical network interfaces were not found:
VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter (adapter 2)
You can either change the machine's network settings or stop the machine.
When I detach the virtual host adapter the VM loads but does not give me the host access. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling virtual box, creating new network adapters, updating the virtual host drivers but all with the same result, it does not work.
Any ideas please?
Thanks
Jim

Re: virtual Host adapter not available
Why did you have two host only adapters? Did you really need to run two separate VM networks involving the host?
The error says that one of the two (or more) host adapters has been deleted. Which would be a good thing since I suspect the second instance was an error.

Re: virtual Host adapter not available
Thanks for the response.
I was experimenting with multiple networks that were accessible from the host but could not see each other. This has been working for 6 months without problems and had continued to work after previous upgrades for VirtualBox until the weekend when I upgraded to the latest build. Yes I have deleted the separate adapter and uninstalled and reinstalled, but without success. I have built a new Ubuntu guest which runs successfully when the network is attached to NAT but when I attach to the host only adapter I now receive the following error:
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine ubuntu_test.
Failed to open/create the internal network 'HostInterfaceNetworking-VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter' (VERR_INTNET_FLT_IF_NOT_FOUND).
Failed to attach the network LUN (VERR_INTNET_FLT_IF_NOT_FOUND).
Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: ConsoleWrap
Interface: IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed}
I have solved this and it is all working. The issue was the virus checker, since my last update I had installed a new virus checker moving from bitdefender to Kaspersky after many years as a bitdefender customer, big mistake. The new AV had added Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS 6 Filter to the Host-Only adapter properties. I unchecked the option and all my guests now have host access.
I publish this in case others are experiencing the same issue.
