Can not see USB device anymore

Post by reggler »

Hi,

The other day, I succesfully added the following USB filter:

Code: Select all

Name: Silicon Labs Synapse USB Device [0100]
Vendor ID: 10c4
Product ID: 8382
Revision: 0100
Manufacturer: Silicon Labs
Product: Synapse USB Device
SerialNo:
Port:
Remote: No
by just selecting the + icon and selecting the device from a list. Now, the list doesn't show any devices while I still have mu printer, phone & mouse&keyboard connected by USB and the Virtual machin (Windows) can't see the client either. Right click on the USB plug inthe VM window just let's me go to USB settings. What happened or better, how can I get my USB devices recognized by VirtualBox? I have rebooted my host since i had it working.

Thanks,
Ron

PS: This is on VirtualBox Version 5.0.12 r104815
And I have already added my user to vboxusers with

Code: Select all

$ sudo adduser ron vboxusers
The user `ron' is already a member of `vboxusers'.

Your filter may be overspecified, I would edit it and prune it to some basics, e.g. vendor. The idea is to add just enough fields to safely differentiate from any else you mght want to attach. That way, if the device pulls any cute tricks such as changing some of those fields depending on mode, then it will still work.

So what changed since the other day?

Does 'VBoxManage list usbhost' show anything at all?

No, nothing(while all the above mentioned devices are connected):

Code: Select all

$ VBoxManage list usbhost
Host USB Devices:

<none>

Post the guests log file ( as an attachment ). Right click on the guest in the Main Manager then click show log. Save and post as an attachment. Compress if it is too large to post.

Code: Select all

00:00:00.724260   IOAPIC              <integer> = 0x0000000000000001 (1)
What reason did you enable IOAPIC for a 32-bit XP guest?

Try disabling it and see if you can bring it back to functionality.

Note: backup the guest and its control files first.

I disabled it but that didn't seem to change anything in terms of visibility of USB devices.

Does VBoxManage list usbhost still return without the devices shown? After a reboot?

Post the results again of the following ( slightly changed command )

Code: Select all

VBoxManage list --long usbhost

Before reboot:

Code: Select all

:~$ VBoxManage list --long usbhost
Host USB Devices:

<none>
I'll have to wait to reboot (my host) later today, I'll update the post later,
I appreciate the continued help so far!
Thanks a lot!
