Suddenly starts crashing on every restart

Post by AngusM »

I've been running XP on it for a while, now suddenly, after the guest starts, it crashes. I'd assume that it was my guest system that was borked, but I get a report of a system failure. After that, I'm given a VirtualBox error:
There is no virtual machine with the identifier a3690bf7-ac0d-4098-898d-2df013b4d9a9.

Could not find a registered machine with UUID {a3690bf7-ac0d-4098-898d-2df013b4d9a9}.

Result Code: VBOX_E_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND (0x80BB0001)
Component: VirtualBox
Interface: IVirtualBox {fafa4e17-1ee2-4905-a10e-fe7c18bf5554}
I get this in kern.log:
Jan 23 11:27:13 bootsie kernel: [ 1335.461420] warning: `VirtualBox' uses 32-bit capabilities (legacy support in use)
Jan 23 11:28:10 bootsie kernel: [ 1392.154841] EMT[4668]: segfault at 618 ip 00007f1bb08955f1 sp 00007f1bb39eec20 error 4 in VBoxDD.so[7f1bb07e7000+17a000]
Jan 23 11:28:22 bootsie kernel: [ 1404.240582] vboxnetflt: 0 out of 337 packets were not sent (directed to host)
Running in Safe Mode doesn't seem to make a difference. I even tried going back to an old snapshot from about a year ago, so it's nothing I've done to the guest that's causing this.
I'm running VB 4.3.34 on Ubuntu 14.04.3 AMD64. The guest is WinXPHESP3 32-bit.

Post the guests log file ( as an attachment ). Right click on the guest in the Main Manager then click show log. Save and post as an attachment. Compress if it is too large to post.

I have selected the important part for you to look at.

1) you are not using the official version of VirtualBox but the Ubuntu fork which we don't support.
2) you might be able to get this going by fixing the version mismatch of the running version of VirtualBox and the Extension Pack, but you would need to ask Ubuntu where to go from there or remove their version and install the official version from virtualbox.org.

Ah, I see. You think the extensions are the problem? I think what I'll do for now is remove the offending extension pack and try to get one from Ubuntu. So I guess I should leave "VNC" in place, remove "Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack" and get a replacement from Ubuntu, is that it?
Thanks.
