Problem to start a VM

Post by LolYangccool »

Hello,

In first, please excuse my very poor english, I'm a french guy and I don't speak english very well.

I have installed VirtualBox 5.0.10 on my Synology NAS with the package present on the SynologyItalia repository from the Packages Center of my NAS.
I have a problem when I start a Virtual Machine for the 2, 3 or 4th time. The starting blocked at 20% and I need to reboot my NAS to unblocked it.

Please find below in the first position a part of the log when a VM start correctly and in the 2nd position the entire log when a VM doesn't start correctly :

Partial logs are useless. Post the entire log as an attachment.

Code: Select all

00:00:00.271671 rtldrNativeLoad: dlopen('/opt/VirtualBox/VBoxSharedClipboard.so', RTLD_NOW | RTLD_LOCAL) failed: libXt.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
00:00:00.271702 HGCM: Failed to load the service library: [VBoxSharedClipboard], rc = VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND - libXt.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. The service will be not available.
00:00:00.276091 Shared clipboard is not available, rc=VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND
Disable the shared clipboard and see if it boots. If so then fix the missing host files and enable it to try with the shared clipboard. It may help during testing to reduce the number of processors to one.

Where is the shred clipboard option in phpVirtualBox ?
I use VirtualBox via phpVirtualBox because it is installed on a NAS.

I don't find the option.

Thanks you.

From the hosts terminal run the following:

Code: Select all

VBoxManage modifyvm <vmname> --clipboard disabled
Replace the <vmname> with the actual name of the guest.

All VirtualBox official installs have VBoxManage, perhaps Synology removes it. If that is the case you would need to contact them or remove theirs and install the official version from virtualbox.org.
Same is true about phpvirtualbox. You asked about where the command would be in phpvirtualbox and we do not use it.

You would use the absolute path.

Code: Select all

/opt/VirtualBox/VBoxManage modifyvm <vmname> --clipboard disabled
This may or may not help but I can tell you now that you are *not using the version provided from VirtualBox, but are using one that has been modified ( fork ) and not supported here. You should be asking Synology these questions so you do not trash what you already have.

VirtualBox for Synology NAS is not create by Synology but by Synology Italia. You can find the package (.spk) here : http://spk.synologyitalia.com/index.php?fulllist=true

I don't find any help on the web for my problem.
I'll try your suggest.

It's very strange. I have a file named VBoxSharedClipboard.so in my VirtualBox directory on my NAS Server :
Image
Why the logs saw that I d'ont have the file VBoxSharedClipboard.so ?

I'm testing with the shared clipboard disabled.

Edit : I have the same problem with the shared clipboard disabled.

You simply need to contact the package maintainer on this. They are the only ones that will know what they did and how you should proceed.
