Adobe Illustrator/InDesign Crash Virtualbox

Post by AHayes »

I have a problem with running Adobe Illustrator and InDesign 5.5 on my Ubuntu 14.04 host and Windows 7 client. Every time I load Illustrator it will crash during initialization. I've followed every answer on other forums about Illustrator from removing fonts to clearing the App Data. Nothing has worked. Those programs had worked in the past, but don't now. I've tried upgrading to the newest virtualbox without any different results. I've attached the log file.

MORE INFORMATION
It happens every single time I open Illustrator or InDesign. I can still open other Adobe products like Photoshop and Acrobat without any problems. I went as far as to try to reinstall Illustrator, but that crashed as well just while reading the CD to install.

I haven't had any other problems with virtualbox at all and can run all of my other programs without a hitch (Word, Excel, Photoshop, FTP programs, Quickbooks, etc).

I'm hoping there is someone that can help me make sense of the log file and get me pointed on the right path.

Thanks!

The VBox.png was black so I didn't include it.

I see this

Code: Select all

00:00:03.815334 OpenGL Info: Host does not support OpenGL extension(s):
But I would think you would also have issues with your other programs if this was really causing a crash issue.

Since this is specific to a particular program in the guest I would look at the program requirements and the guest, so to get you better vision for this issue I will move this to Windows guests.

This is the actual error and usually means a driver issue or the guest is doing something really bad.

Code: Select all

04:25:44.110285 !! Guru Meditation 1155 (VINF_EM_TRIPLE_FAULT)
You can try to disable 3D acceleration.

As a follow up, I tried creating a new Windows 7 VM as a fresh install. I then tried to run the Adobe Creative Suite Installation CD and got the crash from that. I've added the log to see if this will help at all.

This one does not show the OpenGL issue because you have not enabled 3D acceleration so it looks like the host not supporting it rules out the crash as I suspected.

I don't really do Windows so I will leave you with those that do.

Thank you for looking at it. I appreciate it.

I'll hope there are other's that have some more insight.
