5.14 network problem

Post by engmod »

Windows 7 host, with all updates.
I have just upgraded to vb 5.14 from 5.12.
I loaded my previously working xp machine.
I do not have network connection.

I have the correct nic (PCnet-FAST III (Am79C973))

I appear to have traffic out but not in, dhcp does not work.

cheers
Derek

My Win XP guest works fine under 5.0.14 . What networking mode are you using? Have you tried a different one?

Was the guest in a saved state when you upgraded? If so, reboot the guest. Have you upgraded the guest additions?

I presume NAT works. If all else fails, try using a different adapter in the guest. This fixed things for me when I had a problem with bridged networking in an earlier release. (I can only assume it forces the vm to set up a new device and then load the driver again). There have been a few problems with the new NDIS6 bridged network driver, especially with Realtek NICS, but 5.0.14 seems to have solved all of mine.

Same here. Upgraded from .12 to .14 and bridged networking stops working after a couple of minutes. Tried on OSX host Mac Mini 2011 with latest ElCapitan and Win 10 host on Intel motherboard, all the same. It just crashes the networking. Using Ubuntu 14.04.3 server as guest, which was working perfectly for a year now.
