How to change .VirtualBox directory?

I've looked all over and cannot find an answer to this. Is there a way to change where the .VirtualBox directory (the one with the .xml file) is located? I've already figured out how to move the VM folder but cannot find anything on the .VirtualBox one.

I just learned this myself: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=75732&p=352289#p352215 You change the VBOX_USER_HOME environment variable to the desired drive and path. Such a change may be useful to allow more than one log-on account access the same guests, but for disk space purposes the change is not necessary - the files are really small.

Not sure I understand what it is I'm supposed to do.

I found environment variables but can't seem to get it to redirect the folder to the specified path. This is something I've never messed with before, I did some reading and though I understood but apparently not, cuz it hasn't worked. I even looked around at other variables to get a feel for what I need to put in, but common sense didn't work, either.

It has nothing to do with space on my hard drive, I just want all it's files inside the encrypted volume I'm running it in.

EDIT: Never mind, apparently I did understand it. I just had to reload the machine with the snapshot and now it's saving to the folder I want instead of my user folder. So I got it working. Thanks.

Ah, encrypted volume. Another good reason to move the xml & logs.

Glad it's working!
