Platform for MiniMe host

Post by publicme »

Is there a proper VirtualBox version for PCLinuxOS MiniMe 2008?

VirtualBox's 1.6 site download for PCLinuxOS 2007 worked on that platform, of course, but when I try to install the more recent 1.6.2 version on MiniMe 2008, it says "Not an RPM package, or package manifest." There is a 1.5.6 OSE version in the MiniMe repository, but USB is critical to me so I must use a non-OSE version.

So, should I try to use the 1.5.6 version? and not the current generic Linux i386 version? Should the PCLOS 2007 version work and maybe I'm just not installing correctly "rpm -i file.rpm'? Anyway. Is there an archive for older versions?

Thanks!

Okay, so use VirtualBox_1.5.6-1_Linux_x86.run and not VirtualBox-1.5.6_28266_pclinuxos2007-1.i586.rpm... No?

Or, maybe I can live without USB support, so use Tex's OSE version from the MiniMe repository? I need USB support only for moving files around and I can do this via a shared folder on PCLOS. So, the OSE tweaked by the MiniMe studs sitting ready in the repository?
