Do guest OSes look fine with host in 4k res?

I currently use VMware Workstation on a day-to-day basis and considering switching to VirtualBox now. Ever since I've gotten 2 4k monitors about a year ago, my guest OSes in VMware Workstation have always been very tiny and there has been absolutely no real solution or even suggestions on how to fix this. All of the people who have tried changing compatibility settings and VMware settings are just workarounds that require either running the VM in full screen or some other stupid situation.
Anyways, how do guest OSes react to host OSes that are running in 4k resolution? Is the display in the guest OS very tiny just like they are with VMware or can you set a resolution and stretch it (without fullscreening)?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There is a 100%-200% screen-scaling setting in Virtualbox that up to doubles the size of the guest screen while not changing the guest resolution. (There's also a setting for big guests on smaller monitors, too.)

Gotcha. Thanks for the reply. Going to install VBox now and give it a go!

While everything looks fine inside of VirtualBox, I just realized that I have a bunch of vmdk files and it seems that VirtualBox only supports opening up one of them. Now I have to figure out this conversion crap.
Thanks anyway for the help.

There should be no need to convert VMDKs on these grounds. I'm going to take a flying leap in the dark and guess that you actually have a segmented VMDK, and the only one which VirtualBox "recognizes" is the main segment, which is exactly as it should be.

I think I tried that, but half of my things weren't installed on the VM. Assuming it was because it was just looking at one VMDK.

Ok, now it sounds more like a VMDK and snapshots.
