Guest screen goes black when going fullscreen

Windows 7 Guest, Intel HD 4000 graphics, 2d and 3d video acceleration enabled, 256 MB video memory
I searched around and couldn't find anyone else having this problem.
When I have video playing and I try to go fullscreen with the guest (not the video) the screen goes black and I can't recover it. I can see glimpses of the screen when I click close on the guest and it gives me the shutdown options but if I cancel, the screen still does not return. I can also see the ctrl+alt+del screen but the regular screen doesn't return after selecting the task manager or something. So far the only thing I can do is restart the guest. Usually if I pause the video I can switch into fullscreen on the guest without this happening but last time it still did. If this can't be avoided is there any way to at least recover the screen without rebooting the guest?
