Unable to Start VM, or even open Settings

Running 5.0.12

I have a VM which was working fine last week, but following a reboot over the weekend (probably Windows update?) I can no longer access it. Right-clicking and selecting Settings results in:

Code: Select all

 Failed to open a session for the virtual machine HaskellDev.

Callee RC: E_FAIL (0x80004005)

Any ideas what I can do to recover access?

If you suspect that Windows Update trashed your existing installation then I would reinstall VirtualBox.

On a whim, I decided to start VirtualBox as an administrator (i.e. using Run as Administrator, rather than using my normal admin-level account). Turns out the VM was actually running all along. So I'm in, but mystified as to what is going on here.
