Virtualbox wont detect usb memory in the settings

Post by Mikseri123 »

So, i have been searching for people whit similiar problems but i cant seem to find anyone that has this problem, Usually people wont just find the drive in the guest system because of various reasons. BUT in my case virtualbox doesnt seem to be able to find the drive at all... i have tried running vboxmanage to see the usb drives but it just cant find it, the host system is able to use the usb correctly. Anyone got anything i could try? The guest os is tails 1.8.1 if you need to know.

Since you seem to have a host problem, the most important details (about the host) are missing. Also:
1) What is the output of VBoxManage?
2) Can you uninstall and re-install by right-clicking and selecting "Run as administrator"? See if that helps.

1) Again, the host details are missing.
2) So, what's wrong with the output? It seems that VBoxManage is working. Do you have another device plugged in that VBoxManage does not list?

If you're running Windows, try a Microsoft sample application called USBView. See if there are differences in the output.

Ah yes.... brainfart, the host is windows 7 64-bit. and yes there is an usb "mass storage" connected to the host that the host can see but the vbox can't.
I will look into that right away.

I cant seem to find anything that seems out of the ordinary while looking at the info using USBView.
