No internet connection in guest after host sleep

I have a W8.1 host and a Lubuntu guest with latest version of VMbox, but this problem also happened in previous versions more than a year ago and it hasn't changed with any update.
What happens is that I put the host to sleep, after resume from sleep the guest loses internet connection and there is no way I can get it back! The only way is to reboot the guest. I have tried different setting in the network machine settings: bridge adapter, NAT, etc, but nothing fixes this problem.
When I save the machine state and close guest and then reopen guest I still dont get connection, unless I already had it before closing the guest.
Can someone please help?
