Cannot shut down VM

Post by awado »

I'm running Arch Linux (2016.01.01, Kernel 4.3.3) and Virtualbox 5.0.12-1. I can create and run any guest, but I cannot shut them down, regardless what I try: within GUI (Gnome), phpvirtualbox, console via 'acpipowerbutton, poweroff' / within guest (via 'sudo poweroff'). If I use 'vboxheadless -s "myVM"' I have to terminate the process via CTRL-C. Even when I start an empty VM and press F12 to get into the screen to chose the boot method, I cannot power off the VM. I have to reboot the host. Afterwards the VM is marked as 'aborted'. Any help would be appreciated.

I could narrow it down to VNC. Everytime I do a VNC session on the guest, it refuses to shut down. If I quit the VNC session before issuing the shutdown command, the guest will quit. I can reproduce this on a second, fresh install! Anyone else having this problem?
