Windows 7 Stuck at Checking for Updates
Windows 7 Stuck at Checking for Updates
I am running on my mac OS X El Capitan with Windows 7 Home Premium with SP1 installed on my virtual box. When I run check for updated... It just keeps giving Checking for Updates... I had it sitting for hours. My Windows 7 is genuine. I have tried using the update fixit/diagnostics. Just has fixed with a check mark and nothing that was really found as an issue. Ran it again for a few hours same thing. VirtualBox is Version 5.0.10 r104061. Any ideas?

Re: Windows 7 Stuck at Checking for Updates
What makes you think this is a VirtualBox question, rather than the slow server issue it sounds like?

Re: Windows 7 Stuck at Checking for Updates
That's normal. Windows 7 does that. Your problem is not a VirtualBox problem, as long as your network is working. It's simply a Windows 7 problem. I'd leave it running overnight. That's what I do with mine

Re: Windows 7 Stuck at Checking for Updates
Confirming what socratis said, this is normal behavior for Win7, even on native PC hardware. You may well have to let the check for updates run overnight. The good news is that, once it does run successfully the first time, future checks will generally be much faster.

That's because the Windows updates include updates to the Windows update mechanism...Mark92630 wrote:once it does run successfully the first time, future checks will generally be much faster.
