Ubuntu MATE 15-10 installed and runs fine on a Windows 10 VirtualBox 5.0.12 host.
I cant get past the 1024x768 default VBox resolution. Been Googling the web for hours, find no solutions. Most articles are a year or more old. None reference MATE.
Yes, I have the extensions installed, as it is shown in Preferences... | Extensions.
Yes, I have the virtual extensions CD mounted in thee virtual machine with a desktop icon. I've run the autorun on thst disk in the MATE machine.
Still stuck at 1024 resolution.
Polite assistance appreciated.
I had this working in older versions of VBox and Windows, witth other Linux variants.

Install the guest additions ( in the guest ) http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch04.html
Re: VBox 5.0 Ubuntu MATE guest on Win 10 host, display size
This is why I rarely ask tech questions in open forums -- people who "answer" questions without reading them.
I *have* the guest additions installed. Verifies, too. As I said in the original message.
I've run VBox often in the past, on Win, with various Linux guests, and was able to get native resolutions working. But that as before VBox 5.0 and my desire to use MATE.

Can you please show the reference to the guest additions from your previous post. All I see is extension and that is a different animal.
Maybe the reason why you have forum issues is you are not clear with your statements.
Just a thought. Anyway I will refrain from bothering you in the future.

Re: VBox 5.0 Ubuntu MATE guest on Win 10 host, display size
Just to jump in here, MATE will not auto-run the GAs. Gnome 3 and Unity will, not MATE. Also if one tries to set the display resolution inside the guest, it creates a Monitor.xml file in ~/.config that overrides any VirtualBox resolution setting.Sytherek wrote:Yes, I have the virtual extensions CD mounted in thee virtual machine with a desktop icon. Even if you had said that, which you didn't, your assertion would not really count for much. If you want help then the first order of business is to provide a VM log file. Minimum information needed for assistance.Sytherek wrote:I *have* the guest additions installed. Verifies, too. As I said in the original message.
