Hi, Folks.
Thought I'd post this so anyone else having the issue finds something when Googling. I think I may have been the first to have the issue.
I use a Mac as my primary computer and use SolidWorks 2012 regularly. A few days ago I decided to refresh my systems and created new Win7 VMs based on the then-current 5.0.10 rev 104061 version of VirtualBox. Initially everything seemed fine but then I started getting lots of BSODs (Blue Screen of Death) at seemingly random times within SolidWorks. I tried lots of stuff within the Windows environment / SolidWorks config to fix it, none of which worked.
As I Googled around I found evidence that similar problems were often related to hardware so I started thinking the VM might be the issue. I started by uninstalling the VirtualBox Guest Additions and the problems went away. This, of course, is an unacceptable solution as the Guest Additions are quite necessary!
Last night I installed test build 5.0.x revision 104721 of both the Mac VirtualBox and the Guest Additions and everything seems to be working now.
If you're having BSOD problems with SolidWorks on 5.0.10 rev 104061 it's the VM that's causing it, not SolidWorks or Windows.
Best,
-Ben

Re: SolidWorks Issue / Resolution
Hey Ben, although I don't use Solidworks, it's nice to see someone post a solution on a potential problem. On their first post!
Kudos!
