Second screen not working on Ubuntu 15.10

I used to have Ubuntu 15.04 installed and then upgraded to 15.10. Before the upgrade i could use 2 screens with this VM (since i use my laptop with an extra monitor installed and it was very usefull). Since i upgraded both guest and host to 15.10 even with the 2 screen option in the VirtualBox config i can't get the guest to find another screen.
if required i can share the vbox file for the VM. Has anyone else seen something like this?
