Re: Creating process for virtual machine (GUI/QT) ... (1/2)
It sounds like the hardened security issue after VirtualBox 4.3.12. I'm afraid that sometimes disabling an antivirus might not be enough. Try to uninstall it completely and see if it gets fixed. Also, take a look at the "Discussion of Problems due to Hardened Security". I would start at the end of the thread to see the latest developments on this issue.
If that doesn't work, we'll take it from there.

Where did the XP .iso come from or are you using an original install disk?

You're running a quite old version of VBox. Would you mind installing the latest and greatest (5.0.12 as of this writing) ? BTW, we wouldn't be looking at the antivirus issue, since that happened after 4.3.12proff wrote:Virtual box version : 4.2.36

I don't actually need to download it. I have plenty of working XP guests. You might want to download a copy of XP from https://dev.windows.com/en-us/microsoft ... s/windows/ and see if you can get it running.

Re: Creating process for virtual machine (GUI/QT) ... (1/2)
So, wait a minute... Did you ever have any guest work on your VirtualBox installation? If the answer is no, then something is wrong with your installation.proff wrote:Its not working .. also i tried linux ubuntu and doesnt work ? Help ?
- Uninstall VirtualBox completely. If you have any VMs they will not be affected.
- Reboot the host.
- Download 5.0.12 and the matching extension pack (if you haven't done so already).
- Right-click on the installer and choose "Run as administrator".
- Try with one of the XP clients that Lou suggested to you (the ones from Microsoft).
- Let us know how it goes...

Re: Creating process for virtual machine (GUI/QT) ... (1/2)
Glad you got it working, but you didn't answer whether or not you had it working at any point in the past. The main difference (in my opinion) would be the "Run as administrator", which you most probably didn't do in your previous installation, but only you can answer that one... Oh, and finally, did it work with your ISO or with a pre-built VM?
