Using Linux Mint as host and windows in V.B. but the status for USB says not mounted or something that act as if its not there. USB is fine on host and Ive upgraded with a VirtualBox extension pack 5.0.2. Being new Ive wasted many hours trying to search the problem to no luck.
please help.

Post the guests log file ( as an attachment ). Right click on the guest in the Main Manager then click show log. Save and post as an attachment. Compress if it is too large to post.
Also post the results of id from the host terminal.

You are a few versions behind, we are on 5.0.12 now and you should update the host software and extension pack as well.
