Windows 7 guest resized to tiny windows on OSX host

Hi. This is seemingly the same problem as in the thread called "Windows 7 guest is stuck as a tiny window" (sorry, not allowed to post links before tomorrow)

Unfortunately none of the solutions suggested in the other thread worked for me. The following did *not* resolve the issue:

- Boot into safe mode, change screen resolution and then reboot
- Install guest additions in safe mode and reboot
- Changing number of screens, disabling and enabling hardware acceleration.

I'm super stuck. Any ideas on how I can restore a reasonable window size?

Thank you!

No need to boot into safe mode, in fact that is possibly counter productive since it probably means that the GAs aren't loaded hence the OS sees different graphics drivers

Just change the window size by dragging. Then change the display size to some supported size that isn't what you were previously using. Then reboot the guest. Then change the display size again, to whatever size you want.

Try to avoid shutting down your host while the VM is running and minimized.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately dragging the window larger doesn't work. The window is resizes alright, but the content stays as a fixed little rectangle in the center of the window. And when I reboot the machine the window snaps back to micro size. :/

One thing to check. make sure "Maximum Guest Screen Size" is set to "Automatic" In the VirtualBox preferences display Tab. Restart the guest and try dragging the window again.

With the VM fully shut down, right click its icon in the VirtualBox Manager, select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" to a zip file. Attach the zip here.
