Host OS = Windows 10
- Virtualbox Version 5.0.12 r104815
- Surface Pro 3 i5 8GB ram

Guest OS = UbuntuGnome 15.10
- 4357 MB of RAM
- 1 CPU Processor
- 128MB or Video memory with acceleration turned off

I want to use seamless mode but when I do there is this annoying border around the Windows. Any thoughts?

Minimum information needed for assistance

Edit: FWIW, if you are talking about the black border surrounding the Terminal window, try turning off 3D acceleration for the guest.

I have tried turning off acceleration in the VM settings. I have updated my post with more information as requested.

Maybe there is a setting within Gnome I need to change?

I think what's happening is, the black border you see would be the drop shadow you would normally see when running the guest in normal mode. I don't how to turn off drop shadows in Gnome but if you can find out I think that will fix it.

The other thing that will fix it for sure is to install a different desktop environment such as xfce or lxde instead of Gnome
