No H T T P over WinXP SP2 (Unpatched) on Win10 Host

Hey, all!
Hopefully someone can help me here - having trouble cracking this nut.
I am trying to set up a platform for pentesting. For this reason, I need to have a few VMs open. Ubuntu 9.04, WinXP SP2 with MySQL and FTP enabled, and Kali Linux. Because they're pen targets, WinXP and Ubuntu are not going to be patched from install. I am having trouble connecting to H T T P on the WinXP machine, and can't seem to find any solutions online - I've found many people with problems similar to mine, but no solutions. I know it's a longshot, but I was hoping that someone here could shed some light.
Client - WinXP SP2, fresh install. No anti-virus or firewalls.
I have tried all the networking modes I can think of for Virtualbox - Bridged, NAT, NAT Network, etc. I have tried multiple adapters, and have installed the drivers for the Intel 1000 option in VM, as well as installing the Virtual Box tools. No luck.
The client can ping google DNS, etc etc. It has no problems connecting to things other than H T T P (that I've tried - it works for ping and tracert at least). The network connections list the LAN as fully connected, and ipconfig gives a readout without any issues - ip is 192.168.1.x, etc etc.
Any ideas?
EDIT: I wanted to add: Ubuntu 9.04 and Kali work fine out of the box - even though Ubuntu 9.04 is also outdated and unpatched. Also, sorry for the weird spacing on H T T P, the forum thinks I'm trying to post a link when it is all together.
