Hi guys, I have a macbook with VM (windows host), it works fine connected to my home wireless network on both mac and windows sides, however if I connect my Huawei mifi device it only works on my Mac side and on windows inside VM pages won't load, this is same regardless of whether I have it connected wired or wireless, any suggestions?

Post the guests log file ( as an attachment ). Right click on the guest in the Main Manager then click show log. Save and post as an attachment. Compress if it is too large to post.

OK, I'm not familiar with the specific MiFi devices, but from a quick search it seems that they act as a WiFi hotspot. So, I would assume that you simply connect wirelessly from your Mac and in VirtualBox you simply use either "NAT" (as it shows in the log) or "Bridged" mode to get an internet connection (via your Airport card). In light of that, what does the following statement that you made meant?

Also, can you explain to me why you felt the need to change the default network card that was proposed to you by the template (PCnet-FAST III) to something that Windows XP does not have native drivers for (Intel PRO/1000)? Did you install the proper drivers? Are the virtual network cards even working? The logs aren't shedding too much light on this one.

Other than that, please explain (in detail) how exactly you connect from your Mac to the MiFi. Is there any special software installed?

And finally, is the MiFi configuration appropriate to allow multiple clients (if you ever used Bridged mode)?

Hi and thanks for your reply, I connect the same was if I was connecting to home network, at the top on Mac, the device is installed on my mac so I just turn device on and then shows up in available networks, I can connect with wireless or wired by USB if low on battery through USB lead. I click on the Huawei wireless and then it connects, I can browse any sites Mac side, if I bring up window in VM and load up a webpage with explorer or chrome it says webpage cannot load, it also says a network cable is unplugged when I switch from my home wifi to mifi.

As for your question about why I changed default setting to INTEL..... I was just browsing another thread on here trying a possible solution but with no joy I'll have to change it back.

OK, first of all, connecting via USB won't work (easily) and in any case will not work for both your host (Mac) and your guest (Win), so your only option is to connect as if the Mi-Fi is another WiFi hotspot (which it is), either via NAT mode or via Bridged mode.

Not being able to connect to a website, means nothing. You have to go at a lower level if you're troubleshooting network issues. At the bottom of your host there should be a network icon (two computers one behind the other). Right-click on that. You should see your virtual connection with a tick-mark (✓) next to it. That means that the cable is connected. Uncheck it, wait for a minute, and recheck it again. Check the Networking center and post what it says. Open a command prompt window (in your Windows guest) and run "ipconfig -all" and post the output here.

This is what I needed to do ^^^ its all working fine now from my mifi device, thanks and merry christmas!

Yeah, I guess the MiFi has a different address scheme (i.e. private network) than the home WiFi. Unaware that the address provider has changed the guest has no chance of renewing its address. By "unplugging" and "plugging" the "cable", you're forcing your guest to update its network. Glad it got resolved...
